Scholarships?
Does Ross offer its students with any type of scholarships? Has anyone actually gotten a full ride? If so, does anyone know what the criteria is for scholarships and what one would need in terms of GPA, MCAT, etc.
Thanks for the help |

Yes
Yes, they do have several students on a full-ride scholarship each semester (all books, tuition, microscope, etc, etc, etc). The scholarship is offered to underrepresented minorities and most commonly awarded (as far as I know) to Americans of African descent. It is sponsored by Ross and the Congressional Black Caucus. Details should be found on the Ross website. Otherwise, I hear they also offer scholarships to Dominicans.

The scholarship that you are referring was developed to honor the first African American doctor in Georgia, and the details for getting elected for it are explained in the Ross financial aid section of their website. It was developed to increase the number of minority MDs. The financial aid section has a link to the brochure for it.
The Eliza Anna Grier Scholarship was offered to Ross by the Congressional Black Caucus for underrepresented minorities. I am not certain they have an actual website. I know that in order to be awarded the scholarship you must be nominated by a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. I suspect that it may be necessary to seek out a representative in your local community. If you have questions, you might try calling 1-888-404-7677. I sent an email 2 semesters ago directly to the Caucus inquiring how students can become nominiated. They never responded.

go for it
Carfanatic:
If you can get a full scholarship from St. George then definitly accept it. Ross doesn't have any scholarships other then the one tha tDru commented on. Even the students who will be in the new honors program mentioned in another thread they wern't getting any renumeration.

Scholarship
Remember most of the SGU scholarships are sponsored by individuals and private groups. According to their website, they do award a small number of partial (how partial is not known) scholarships to students who exhibit academic excellence. With the difference in cost of attendance of Ross vs. SGU I guess you can just look at it as though all Ross students get a scholarhip just for attending.
