No more BMSI? Mandatory comp? Rumor or fact?
They had a meeting and didn't tell us about it?
So did anyone attend this meeting? I heard there is no more BMSI, everyone goes to Miami, but everyone must take the comp, and you have 3 chances to pass the comp in order to take Step 1. Oh yeah, joke of the day was that some kid with a C-average gpa at Ross got the highest USMLE score this semester. Deja Vu? So WTH? |

comp
if that is the case, then they are reverting to exactly the way it was when the miami semester first came to be. you took the comp on the rock, if you failed it, you had a chance to take it in miami at the start of the semester, and if ist 2 strikes, then you got to take it at the end of teh miami semester again. 3 strikes and you got remediated. personally, i passed first try, and never took it again, but if you wanted to you could, just as practice working your way up to step 1. wish i had done that in hindsight, maybe i could have eked out a few more points on the exam.

Full Circle
Someone correct if I am wrong here, but the current scenario you describe sounds an awful lot like the way it used to be down there. Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, Rossies were made to take shelf exams for all subjects every semester and everyone was also required to take the comp regardless of GPA. Everything seems to go in cycles with Ross. Who knows maybe now we will get some of the clinicals sites we used to have back?

12 weeks
I guess now they have the proper ammunition to justify increasing 5th semester from 9 weeks to 12 weeks. In addition they must beleive that being able to enjoy the good old USA will help the students in passing the comp exam. Good food = good grades. Just make sure you study and not spend too much time on the beach.
Good luck to all students.
