details
It is clear that we don't have all the details of what will happen in Miami. What is clear is that the BMSI program was given a fair try but it was found that the Step 1 pass rate after BMSI was not encouraging. Changing away from a program that was not successful to another should only be encouraged. ie. keep trying until you find something that works. Ross and other offshore schools have an interesting dilemma to face. They are partly responsible for getting some students who US schools wouldn't touch to pass and become physicians. Some times this is tough, but Ross is persistent to that end.
Whatever they do, there will be students who whine and complain. If they have BMSI which costs more $$, some students complain. If they keep students on the island for another semester, some students complain. If the move everything to Miami, some students complain. Fact is, you can't please everybody - you can only do what you feel is right. -M Quote:

I'm a bit confused on how things will change if in fact all this is true. Will it mean you have to pass a "Comp" exam in order to be able to go to Miami for 5th semester and then pass another exam during 5th semester in order to be cleared by the school to take Step 1? Somebody please explain it to me in simple terms.

No
It just means that in order to be registered for the USMLE you will have to have passed the COMP exam. You don't have to pass the COMP to go to Miami and you don't have to pass another exam in Miami (well other than usual exams in Miami).
Basically, its only interesting to students who have already gone through it all. It shouldn't make any difference to those who have not yet started at Ross except to know that if you pass all of your classes (as the great majority does) you will be back in the States in 16 months. -M Quote:

Usually
Well, as you've read the system is changing a bit. But it sounds like students will still take the comp after they complete 4th semester but before leaving for break.
