Medicine Subspeciality Electives at Caritas

I have not done any electives at Caritas, but I am rotating at Caritas right now. In my opinion, I believe that Pulmonary is a very good elective at Caritas, as I think you will learn. Cardiology is another good elective (at least this is what I have heard). I am not sure about the others, but I hope this helps.

ER and Family at Caritas

Family Medicine Core Rotation at Caritas is as follows: 5 weeks outpatient clinic, 1 week in patient at MIH. The first day you meet with Director of FM and you decide which clinic you want to go to. The one week at MIH includes a 24hr call either Friday or Saturday of that week

ER at MIH: I do not know too much about this elective, but I do know that the hrs are very long (I think 7am-7pm). These hrs are not everyday, but instead 3-4 days of the week. You will do a lot of ABGs, blood draws and ER admissions.

Hope this helps.

Thats how every ER rotation is pretty much everywhere... 7-7...this goes for shifts after residency as well, 3X a week. Thats why ER is so lucrative to everyone... 7-7 is not even that long, we were often 5:30 to 7 daily for medicine at Kings County...

Hrs. at Caritas for Family Medicine

The hours for family medicine at Caritas vary depending upon which clinic you choose. I have heard that if you chose one clinic, you just have to come in for 2-3hrs a day and do paperwork. However, I also know that that there is another clinic that makes you stay very long hrs. (9AM-6 or 7PM). Yet there is another clinical site in which the doctor has two family medicine clinic practices, and you have to go to both of them.

I hope this helps!

Hello, I am scheduled for Peds core at Wyckoff for July 7th, 2008. I would like to know if any body would be interested in trading my peds july rotation for your june peds rotation (any hospital would do). Its an MD ACGME approved rotation. Thanks, please get in contact with me, 347-768-2018. Ask for Jay.

Good luck to everyone else.
