Clinicals in the Midwest...
I have a few questions about clinicals:
I am interested in doing all ACGME certified cores, but also spending as much time as possible in Chicago. I can see that internal medicine can be done at Reese and Family Practice can be done at Jackson Park. However, are there any Ross affiliated ACGME hospitals for Surgery, Psychiatry, Peds, OB/GYN in Chicago? Also, I know that Texas wants ALL ACGME approved rotations (even for electives) for licensure. Does anyone know of any other states that want this? I am interested in the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, etc) Thanks in advance… |

you can do your entire 3rd year at Jackson Park in chicago. Because they have an FP residency program that is ACGME, all the other rotations count as MD apparently. which is good.
The bad news is that there is a big time wait list for jackson park. For example, the sept 03 class that is just beginning clinicals this July can't get into jackson park until November at the earliest. This means you have to do rotations in NY or somewhere else for 4 months before an opening hits. This presents another potential problem in that Jackson Park requires you to do their internal medicine 3 month rotation at their hospital and nowhere else. So, you can't start IM in new york and then go to jackson park later. You'd have to do peds, FP, etc, and fill spots for 4 months, then go to jackson park and do IM. confusing...I know. but just so people know how jackson park works. It's a little complicated. |
