The Infamous Clinical Rotations Sticky

I have to admit I'm disappointed in the clinical rotation sticky. No I'm not a 3rd year yet but I'm a student to be and I read just about all the post on the Ross forum. I know you're intentions have been all well and good Dru, but I have to agree with which seems to be the consensus that it really seems to be shutting down a lot of conversations. I've been following three post about different rotations over the past couple of days that were locked and moved to the rotation sticky that pretty much got dead ended......no one followed up. The way I see it it doesn't exactly get lost....you can always do a search if someone is looking for a particular rotation topic. It's no different then having a long never ending sticky.....y ou wouldn't necessarily go through and read eight pages of varing clinical rotation topics in a sticky.....I would think most people would do a search on a particular clinical rotation subject. I do think people are posting in the sticky but depending on how much info comes in at once......I'm seeing some questions that have gone unanswered and been buried behind several other incoming clinical rotations questions in that sticky.....so it has it's down side too! Just my opinion. Does it have to be final? Can we have a vote on it?? Thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. It's just that I've seen quite a few folks comment about it lately and people are still posting separate clinical rotation question anyway.....as I just read another one. Thanks.

I would like to see more of the same back and forth dialog you get on some of the other school sites. Subjects don't always have to be shut down just because that aren't oh so serious either....just Rossies talking among themselves....of course there's always the relaxing lounge.

Thoughts opinions anyone....
have a great day. 8)

my opinion

The way I succeeded through Ross was to take it into "chunks/blocks". One block at a time. I see that many who have been accepted to Ross, like the original poster, are worrying about stuff they shouldn't be.

1. Succeed on the island, get good marks and get a good solid foundation in the basic sciences.

2. Getting through 5th semester

3. Step 1 studying/ exam.

4. Wait for results, get your cores, schedule your electives

5. Plan for Step 2 CS AND CK and take the exams.

6. Apply for the match, get interviews etc...

7. GRADUATE!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) <-----light at the end of the tunnel

So those who are in "Pre-first semester" are worrying about things they shouldn't. You will definitely need to think ahead, but there are TONNES of Ross graduates who've all been thru it, and if you succeed at one "block", you will get thru the next.

Good luck to all.

A.

If you are referring to the topic of my post as worrying to much about things that I shouldn't well than yes that's your opinion as one track as that maybe. I have a full and balanced life and yes valuemd is part of it...a very small part I might add. I'm sure you have seen valuemd to be a forum for all different types of dicussions.....medical and the like. People that relate to and talk about things other than school and medicine are well rounded individuals: not one track minds or stick in the muds.....and that's just my opinion. That's why I like valuemd so much!

No harm was intended "justdoit". I apologize for pointing you out. I just find alot of new Rossies worrying about clincal rotations and how to apply to them when they should be worrying about how to pass Mini 1 and surviving the "rock" without the comforts of home. The next 4 yrs of all new Rossies life is going to be a more than just a roller coaster, so best of luck to all!

Apology much appreciated and accepted .......so are you a new Rossie or Rossie 2 be? I totally agree with you.......going to med-school and living on the "rock" is going to be hard x's 10.

I'm an "old" Rossie :-), graduating in 8 days. Finished rotations 6 months ago. Not only is living on the rock going to hard, but dealing with everything else and "surviving".

Good luck,

A.

Good for you! What a wonderful accomplishment!
Is that old as in age old (haha) or old as in old grad?
I'm an old fart myself.

Good luck in your residency!
