Hello,
Could anyone tell me about places to live In Chicago. I am going to be starting Internal med at Jackson Park in September and ideally I want to get a place close to Jackson Park but I have heard that the neighborhood was not safe. I looked thru craigslist but I am unsure of how safe the areas are. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My two priorities are safety and close proximity to the hospital in that order. Thank you.

Michael Reese housing

Hi,
Has anyone heard of a housing complex next to the Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. Is it for medical students who are rotating at Michael Reese. If so, how do we get in touch with them (does anyone have an email address or phone #) of this place? What is the cost? Thanks for your help.

as far as I know there isn't any Michael reese housing. There is an apartment complex right across the street from the hospital. Can't remember the name of it though

Housing, Michael Reese

I worked at Michael Reese a few years ago, the apartment complex right across the street from the hospital is called Prairie Shores. Many of the interns, residents lived there. The area has been built up alot over the past couple of years. You are in the Bronxville area of Chicago. Close to downtown Chicago, China Town, alot of shopping. Just be careful at night,as you would in any big city.

There are 2 complexes...one is Praire shores which is right behind Michael Reese hospital and the other is Lake Meadows...which is down the road from Michael REese. Both are owned by the same management company. Prairie shores has a gym in each builiding, lake meadows does not. I think the last I heard, a studio at Praire shores was starting at $640 (the price gets higher the higher up you live). Lake Meadows is a little bit cheaper than that. Prairie Shores seems really nice and clean...never seen Lake Meadows but have heard it's kind of ghetto.

I'm sure you can google the numbers and find them that way.

Good luck!
