Brown water!

It's been raining the whole day now and the water is brown. After Mrs. Lambert lectured on how easy it is to get worms here, I really don't want worms! How do people usually deal with the brown water here? don't bathe for days? I don't want to be walking around with worm eggs in my hair. What about washing dishes and brushing my teeth? We have drinking water, but I don't want to use it up. Thanks for any advice.

Clean It

You could try cleaning it... Get instructions for a home distillery online, and use that to purify the water.. And in your off time, you can brew your own 160 proof booze

brown water

i understand what you are going through, as i remember the first time i saw that crap coming out of my faucet... no pun intended

i would not fool with it. the apartments down there remove the filters when it rains hard, other wise the filters would block up all the debris flowing through and clog it up, so god only knows what is in that stuff. my adivce is just to by some of the bottled water, and use it to drink and brush teeth. as for washing dishes, if you can wait a day, do so, but if its piling up, i would just go ahead and wash it in the faucet water. if you can, use disposable eating wear for a day or to - just a couple of thoughts.

old man's river

I'd like to see a water table and flow study.

I haven't seen brown water from my apartment yet and its been a month into the rainy season. I checked last night and it was clear. This morning too.

look closer!

Make sure to look at your water very carefully. We thought it was clear yesterday, but it was actually slightly brown. It's not always very obvious.

Fortunately, our water was clear this morning!

...

i doubt the brown water causes any problems with showering and brushing the teeth. think about it...how nasty is the stuff you breath in when you're walking on a sidwakl behind a city bus that keeps stopping and going? that stuff gets into your mouth like the water you would brush with...and the stuff gets all in your hair like the brown water would when you shower. I have showered/brushed with it, even last semester, and no problems. i would think you would develop sicker things if you refrain from showering than you would if you just went in there and finished business. i'm sure the water in the sea/pools that you've swimmed in is MUCH worse (other people's ringworm feet, fecal material, re-hydrated urine, etc.). And i am not joking.

not an option

What day is the official end of the rainy season ?

I believe June1 was the official beginning.

Not showering is NOT an option for me.
So I won't be taking a close look at the water.

Just like I don't ask too many questions at the shacks.
I'll just get de-wormed at the end of every semester like they've advised.

not just brown

the water is not just brown anymore. last night there were small black pebbles flowing out from the faucet! its' weird, but the water from the kitchen is much worse than the water in the bathroom. go figure!
