Miami gyms
Anyone who is currently in or has been through the Miami AICM program, can you recommend any centrally located and relatively affordable gyms to join while I'm there? I will be living in Miami Beach, so that would be my first choice since I'll be spending just about every day at the gym, but if there is a decent gym centrally located in Miami, that might be okay, too. Your advice would be appreciated.

Re: Miami gyms
There are gyms all over the place in Miami. Bally's is centrally located as are many others.

re
bally's is a nice gym, if you plan to join for like 2 years.
Went there with some friends to see about a month or month option. It was something like $100 per month. Felt like I was in a used car sale's man office. It was horrible. Ended up finding a local club next to the airport for $30 something dollars. Not as nice as Bally's, but had what I needed. |

i did a month to month(no contract) with ballys before and it was 50 a month plus tax so a total of 58....but then in miami i joined a place called porkys gym, its like 10 minutes from the umiami campus...that place is $35 a month and you don have to sign any contracts, its a prepaid membership thing...not glamorous but good because people actually go there to work out and not gawk at people

re
they might have for you, but they forced me to come in to get a price quote and then started giving me a lot of crap about it. Said I could get it for $50 if I found at least 3 or 4 other people.
I had some other issues with that Ballys though I won't get into now. |

I don't know where in Miami Beach you will be staying (north or south),but there are no Bally's on Miami Beach, there are a few in Miami and one in the Coral Gables area. There is a Gold's Gym and Crunch(sobe)- but very expensive- not sure about short term memberships. There are several other smaller gyms on the beach- you will have NO problem finding a place to work out... Good luck!

Re: re
Hey Bevo, funny thing is that I had the same experience at Bally's. It was like buying a used car - how terrible.

I beleive if you stay at a place like the Airport Villas or some of the motels they either have their own gyms or you get a free pass to a gym. This could be an option depending on how much you want to spend on your room.
