Thread: All April 2005 MERP Students and previous Miami MERP student

It seems like there are a lot of you guys that are going to be enrolled in the MERP program in April. I just wanted to ask you guys if you've set up anything for housing yet and what you guys are doing for financial aid. Also, how many of you guys are going to have cars down there? I think we should get something going here where we can all help each other out, because I'm sure there any many of you guys out there, myself included, that are quite a bit lost on all the details to be taken care of before April. Also, it would be great if anyone who's done the MERP program can give some feedback on where to live, total costs, etc

I will be starting MERP in April as well. I have been looking for places on craigslist.com and it seems like there are alot of vacancies. I will probably buy a car down there because from what I have been hearing, public transportation is kind of impractical. I'm coming from california, where are the rest of you April MERPers coming from?

Hi! I'm coming from NJ and found my own place right in Miami Beach. The price was right and the location was awesome. If anyone is interested I can contact the landlord to see if there's any more units available. I also heard about transportation problems so I'm driving down there. Did anybody hear anything else about the program like class times??? When is everybody arriving??? I'll be there around April 1 so maybe we can meet up and get to know each other?

Miami beach is far far from the 7000 building. I don't know what your guys' schedule is like, but if everything is at the 7000 bldg I would not recomment anywhere near downtown Miami or Miami Beach. I live at Ludlam Point Apartments which is like 5 minutes from 7000. I would do a search and focus it between Dixie highway and 40th Street and Dixie highway and 70th Avenue. This of course is contingent on the fact that you guys do all/most your activities at the 7000 bldg.

I am considering MERP, but I was not provided with the tuition of the program.

Can anyone tell me how much the semester long program will cost me? Are you all taking out loans?

I think the tuition is about $10,900 and Ross says that living expenses reach up to $12,000, but I honestly think that depends on how lavish you're living. I'm planning on taking out a partial loan to pay for the costs of living, etc. When is everyone planning on going to Miami? Since classes start on April 11th, I'm not planning on going till about a week before. Hopefully, I'll be able to find some housing. Did any of you guys get an informational packet? I got some info about financial aid, but that's about it.

I took MERP in Sept 04. Miami Beach is too far. The comute every morning would really suck! We had a guy in our class that made a very long comute everyday. He was late alot, and spent alot of study on the road. Coconut Grove is a cool place and about 25 minute commute. It's also abit more expensive. I would recommend staying as close to 7000 as possible. There is a very good mall nearby with a gym, plenty of rest.,ect.You can party in Miami after block exams.
