Submucosa,
I don't know where you got your information, but nowhere in the materials provided does it say that admission to the 5th semester is based on grades. I suggest you review the prerequisits for submitting an application for 5th semester in dominica. The big one being that you need to have US hospital experience, and if i remember correctly the canadian you are talking about did not. In fact there were a few very good students who were denied because they didn't have US experience. This is the type of stuff that makes me angry about ross students, someone doesn't get their way and so they go distort the truth to make other parties sound bad. It is always someone elses fault.

Zedpol,

If you read my e-mail, I said generally. I don't need to go recheck anything. But the only thing about the materials provided is that Ross is inconsistent (there's that word again) with following them.

Student D is assured that he/she is allowed to come back the following semester and repeat the semester with no penalty, or record of the past semester. Student D then receives an e-mail saying you have been requested for dismissal. Student fights this, is allowed back in, but is considered to have failed the previous semester.
NEVER NEVER NEVER accept anything an admin says verbally. Get it in writing. If they refuse to give it to you in writing, then that is proof they were lying just to get you out of their office then be off island when you get the final decision. Even when they give it to you in writing, a hire up will say "he was not authorized to say that." and that's the end of it.

Last semester

discombobulase, i agree with you, butsome people learn the hard way.

Don't even let me get into the story of that 4th semester student who they thought was a coke head based on heresy, posted his pics up all over campus with security guards telling people it was a drug related disciplinary action, and banned him for 2 weeks before letting him back in. That was defaming to the student's character, and that student, no matter what he did, he did not deserve that without giving him an appeal. The school did not observe due process in that matter. On top of that, they told him he could take his exams one day before his path lab final, and he had 4 exams in 2 weeks, when they realized that the whole drug issue was just a case of "erroneous information received by them" just 2 days after the initial dismissal of the student. Do you think he was studying in the 2 weeks he was banned? I doubt it. That explains why he failed 4th, but was a fairly good student who put little effort in attaining a decent average (~3.2 gpa) prior to 4th. I hear he's suspended for this semester, but is fighting to be promoted. But I also hear that the school hasn't returned his e-mail requests, and that he may be taking them to court. I hope he sues the ish out of them.

dean is failing....

my friend failed third last semester.....he went to the dean and asked for his final results, so the school said that he failed his u.s shelf exams. so he called nbme, and they mailed him his scores "which turned out to be passing" and then the schol, changed, and said that he failed his local final. he talked to dean and then the dean told him to come back the day after. on that day, the dean said that the guy failed his final.
the school is playing alot of games. the dean is being kicked out. im so happy.
half my friends have transferred out ever since the dean was hired. f***k this dean.
hes doing a terrible job!

Well there's a new dean, but this kind of thing still goes on.
Take a break, look up from the book... see the sharks circling?

While I have been at Ross, I have seen 2 teachers leave. One was bad, and the other was also bad but others thought she was good. There are bad AND good professors at Ross. I think our semester is the guinea pig semester to try out all the professors to see whether to hire them or not. So we've seen our share of extremely bad professors. I'd say its about equal the amount of good professors to the amount of bad professors. However, having said that, it should be a case where the MAJORITY of professors are good. Thats not the case with Ross.

Whats worse is the poor shape clinicals are in. I think Ross needs to start offering a higher quality clinical experience. From what I am hearing now, the teacher to student ratio in years 3 and 4 are extremely bad. Anatomy lab bad even. Its like 8 or 9 students to one attending. Obviously not the best way to learn.

I hope the rumor that Ross is going to limit its class sizes to 350 holds true. Ross cannot cope with admitting 450 - 500 students a semester.
