the match
i had no problems getting both my number 1 choice specialty and location. and no, i didnt know anybody there, and did not do any rotations there. as for the comment about people having problems? who? names? i know of nobody who didnt get a spot. i know one person who got a prelim surgery in thye scramble only because he refused to go anywhere else, and had hoped to get a cat spot there, which was a prestigious spot , so very very competitive. i know one who had to scramble due to visa issues, but he also got a spot. i know one other who got a spot she didnt want, but her app was a mess, due to a transfer froma US school(hmm, and you wonder why she had problems?) . everyone else i know got their number 1 choice specialty, and almost all got in their top 2 locations. only1 got into his #3 location. where did you hear about people having troubles? i have many friends who still dont have a spot, but they all went to st mathews and spartan. i have a feeling you are hearing general rumor type stuff, and attributing it to ross.

spots
I dont know of anyone who didnt get a spot either.
There were 2 people I know who had to scramble, but it was their own fault since they didnt meet the deadlines for CSA reporting. Unfortunately, I must admit I went to #4 on my rank list. Probably because I ranked places that I had no chance of matching into. But I was very very selective only ranking places I really liked. Out of 15 interviews I only ranked 5. Risky, But I got lucky! Not Matching
This is NOT a rumor..... I personally know 3 people who did not match. There were various factors that contributed to all 3 not getting a spot. For the most part, the problem was not on the side of Ross, but on the side of the applicant.
As far as the numerous other questions that were raised, there STILL is an overall bias at many large/big name programs, that can not be overcome with even perfect grades and board scores. At 2 of my interviews, the director told me that it was the first time they ever interviewed a candidate from the Caribbean. For the most part, at theses programs it doesn't matter what caribbean school you attended, you are still from the Caribbean. -K |

match
the girl i know how had troubles got a spot in prelim surgery. as for keiths comment about being a FMG, the place i matched at was my number 1 choice. i was the first FMG they had ever interviewed,a nd it showed. lots of confusion over the ECFMG process, and lots of questions about CSA.

Not matching
Keith, I was wondering, those that did not match, was it because they limited themselves to a competitive residency or a certain geographical area? I am pretty set on doing either psych or family and would move to whereever I'd get a spot; however, the thought of not matching at all is a little bit unsettling.

sorry to butt in... I would just like to assure you that any graduate of Ross who is an english speaking US citizen and has no geographical preference will be able to get into a psych or FP residency- possibly even one in a favorable area. unless you really screw up your interview or something crazy, you will be OK.
