Question Ross MD or SGU MPH to MD, 2012

Hello! I was just accepted to Ross MD for August 2012 and have an interview with SGU for MPH to MD for August 2012.

What should I do in terms of where the schools will stand in the next 4 years? I also want to get a quality clinical rotation spot in New York City and do residency there as well. Also, although I would be interested in studying for the MPH I'm not entirely in favor for getting it before medical school if at all, however if SGU is worth the money, and the years spent on the island vs Ross, then I would do it. However there is also the risk of not getting into the SGU MD program after the first semester.. have to maintain a 3.5 the first semester of MPH classes to get accepted into the January 2012 SGU MD program.

Ross MD sounds great since it's only 16 months on the island.. however SGU has better living conditions, which I guess would help withstand the longer stay there (24 months).

Also I already told SGU that I got accepted to Ross, but the counselor told me I need to go in to the interview to be considered for both the MD and MPH programs if I want an interview, because my current application is weak. (I had to sign an addendum for the MPH)

Anyway, my point is that that stat doesn't tell much about the causes for the delay.
Yeah, that's why I said my bad on the phrasing and I provided the link. Decided to let the OP draw the conclusion.

I am in the same situation as you are. I have an interview for SGU's MD/MPH program tomorrow. I haven't told my SGU admissions counselor that I have been accepted to Ross yet. What I plan on doing is waiting for SGU to accept me for the MD/MPH program and then telling about my direct admission. I hope SGU at least lets me into their CFP program. With the CFP, you enter the MD track after one semester, whereas the MD/MPH path takes more classes and more time. BTW, what were your stats? Mine were 3.287cGPA 3.000sGPA and 23R MCAT.

i would say take the more direct route...but if you think you are gonna have difficulty maintaining a 3.5, i would take some time to think long and hard why that would be the case...and if you are ready for med school material...

P might =MD, but it certainly doesn't assure one of a residency...and without that...the MD is worthless (well actually it will cost you 200k)...
