They need training BAD. Last night a girl was wounded (the facts surrounding the nature of the injury are still a bit grey, suffice it to say the shady cows near PBH were involved). The Ross EMT's decided to sew her up. In doing so the EMT did not CLEAN the wound (something that is common sense) and she had to go back to the hospital to get it cleaned out. They took out not just dirt, but pebbles and grass. Now, dont get me wrong, there are many qualified EMT's Paramedics, P.A's and even chiro's that are Ross EMT's. I am not slamming everyone, but THIS is just crazy. They should have some sort of classes saying what can and cannot be done to people. Now, I dont know if this EMT is qualified to actually sew someone up - and lets face it, those little suture clinics DO NOT qualify students to sew living people up. What sucks is that she cant do anything but take her licks and try to get through the exams. And if it turns out that the medic wasnt qualified, that medic should be crucified.

You really have no idea about what you are talking about. Lets hope that this student doesnt use this MINOR injury as an excuse that her exams didnt go well. This emt is very qualified to suture, maybe before you start pointing the finger you should get the facts straight, or maybe even help out EMS yourself. You have NO idea about helping people and will make an awful physician if you are the first to monday morning quaterback.

They still should have cleaned out the wound...it's common sense?

I heard her scream last night and found her on the floor with one of the cows standing over her. I stayed with her until EMS came to get her.

That same cow was tied up on the trail all day and would swing its head at people tring to walk by. Numerous complaints have been made to PBH about the cows...but it seems like they don't care. All they care about is ripping the students off and taking advantage of us. Also, there are a bunch of lights out on the trail....including the light where this incident occurred.

pbh? the motel I will be staying at when i arrive on the rock in 2 weeks?

is that a good place to stay? or should i find another motel..... I'd rather save a few bucks and have a nicer place to stay for the night. :P mooooooooo

find another place...that is funny. there is no other place except for maybe coconuts and the pbh villas. The nicest would be the little cottages/villas by PBH but there are only 6 or so of those, and cocunuts is not any better than pbh. You should be fine.

Why do I get the feeling it was YOU who screwed her leg up? I would put money on it. What you need to do is get a clue and have a very good understanding of what you can and cannot do. How many people wanted to meet you off campus to discuss things you write on here? I know personally of 3. Go back to the little feeble hole you crawled out of or stand up like a man. And learn what mommy told you years ago. Put clean the wound.

First I would like to say that I am NOT involved with the EMS at this school for certain personal reasons, and secondly I really dont care what you think of me. I will be leaving FOR GOOD in 13 days. If you life is so boring and weak that you need to get all upset about this forum than I really think you need psychiatric help. Maybe you werent hugged enough as a child, I dont know. You really have no idea what it is to get out of bed at all hours of the night to help another person, and than to hear that you are being bashed about the job you did. Unless you are the person who was hurt, or the person who did the suturing than please keep quiet and stop monday morning quaterbacking things. I would bet that that emt would out perform you anyday....... Go back to studying now...
