I third these statements from the last two guys.

I have been using digital notes & back-ups for all 4 semesters before most people were.. in 1st semester everyone was still printing notes! only when they implemented the new limited printing policy in 2nd semesters that a lot more people started using digital notes..

I use adobe acrobat pro .. some lectures are pdf format, most are powerpoints but with adobe acrobat pro you can convert the powerpoints to pdf's so you can have all your lectures in pdf's.. and can take notes on them with adobe acrobat pro.

Also i have been using 2 sources of back-ups since first semester.. 1 on my external hard drive.. and a 2nd on a digital harddrive service (there's many of them out there) - just in case my laptop & hard-drive both break, get stolen, lost, or lost in a fire or something..

I can understand that people like printing things out since we're all used to it from undergrad and etc but what are you gonna do later in your education or career when you wanna pull up something from your medical school notes? It is much easier to search digitally through many different files & folders, then to search in your hugeass pile of papers and binders.

Dont bring a printer, get used to reading notes on your computer and taking notes on it...it will help you prepare to stare at the computer screen for the Steps that you will eventually take...

Dude, its a long debate. Just like one side can say "Oh mediasite is the way to go, saves time, bla bla.... and flipside can convince you how awesome the class is, nothing like being in person"

OP, make up your OWN mind based on how you have studied SO FAR, and how you plan to. Sure, med school is diff, but if you have/can make up your study plan sooner you will be ahead of ppl who will still be figuring out What to do after Mini I (micro I or nano I, whatever they call it now)

No offence above bro, but if I need to reference something AFTER i graduate from school, ill use text books, online journals or even WIKI just like many physicians do. I have yet to come across a Doc who said, Excuse me, let me pull up my med school notes to exactly find out what enzyme deficiency is causing this. On the other hand, I HAVE seen many going to Wiki :P

Lastly, backup... Yeh, I cant agree with ppl up above. Although I use paper, I still like to keep my comp. backed up. So I backup my computer automatically to one external hard drive. I also keep a secondary copy of my data on a portable 320 gigz. Finally, the main external hard drive backup is FURTHER backed up on a 3rd drive.

I only run a SSD on my computer for mediasite+notes+PDFs. Rest the setup I have automatically plays with 2000GBs to backup and then backup the backup. I carry 320gigz portable plus a flash drive if need be.
