    iPad for Ross?

I've read several forums that touched on this, but really, I just want an opinion from students at Ross.

What do you think of an iPad for classes?

We've contemplated on a tablet, but that's twice as much as an iPad.
We've thought of using an eReader, but other forums I've read said its a bad idea since it usually doesn't have color or that PDF OCR thing.
We have a 17" laptop, but its heavy and the battery is probably only about 5-6 hours.

We're drawn to the iPad because its lightweight and the battery is decent. Most of his notes will be written by hand since he can't type well.

So what do you think? I'd appreciate a response

Man.. I hope this doesn't open up a Mac vs. PC debate We own both btw...

simple advice...dont bring. you would be surprised the number of laptops (and other items) stolen or "lost" every week., either on campus or off

if you want to use a computer...bring a laptop to class.

I always wrote my own notes on their handouts...made it real easy to study for the minis.

external hard drive is a must though....video lectures, old tests, handouts, etc.

lol... sounds like a person that's anti-technology.... is crime really, really high? i mean im sure if ppl just pay attention to where they place their belongings and be aware of their surroundings... its just like that everywhere you go in the world when you travel. i mean there are stolen laptops on undergrad campuses in the US even as we speak today...

I've "survived" 4 semesters leaving laptops lying everywhere...swing 1,2, the classrooms, random pbl rooms...hours at an end.

You're more at risk of squatting (security makes occasional sweeps grabbing squatter stuff so others can use the desks) than theft. That being said your mileage may vary

So are you even a student yet? or just making assumptions. Stuff gets stolen all the time..whether your on campus or off(your apartment..maids). If your at school, then sure you can take your stuff with you if your going to leave a for a minute...or trust enough in your friends to watch your stuff.

Fortunately I never had anything stolen...But has happened to more people than you realize. But maybe they were being lazy for a second and just werent thinking. could happen to anyone

anti technology? you kids and your new fangled Ipad....i'll keep my ipod and my laptop

the best way to ace the ross exams though, is just to use the handouts the prof makes
