American Eagle

I heard they changed their policy about amount of bags and weight when it comes to flying out. Has anybody left recently FROM Dom...is it still 2 bags and 70 pounds total? Also do they allow a carry on other than a backpack?

I read that advisory that was sent out and it stated that they only allow 1 carry-on bag now... ***...

What about for entering into the country? Is it still carry-on plus personal item, and two luggage at 50 lbs each?

Entering I believe is 2 carry-on and 2 pieces of luggage that TOGETHER weigh 70 lbs. That was the restriction when I came in September on American Airlines.

Restriction from the Airline or from the Dominica Airport ?

From American Airline website, they allow 2 pieces, 50lbs each for total of 100lbs as per their Winter Policy on the website for Caribbeans. However, I have read that Dominica only allows 70lbs bringing in, which is new to me because I thought as long as airline is carrying the weight, the receiving ports can care less.

Wait, so you're saying 70 lbs including both luggage and carry on? That's like virtually nothing. Should I call Dominica Airport to confirm this or American Airlines?

LOL call the Dominica airport and see how far that gets you. 70lbs does not include carry-on, carry-on is limited to 40lbs... they never weigh it... but they COULD.

Thats the premise I'm working on. Put more of the heavy and compact stuff in my backpack, the lightweight/large volume items in the checked luggage.

From Austin Travel with their booking confirmation:

ALLOWABLE CHECKED LUGGAGE IS 70LBS PER/PERSON TOTAL

I don't see personal item listed there. So we really only get one carry on, no personal item, and 70 lbs of luggage? That sucks. Quite a bit.
