Is anyone using Windows 7? If so does it work without any problems with Mediasite, G Drive, and the rest of the Ross network? Thanks.

my understanding is windows 7 comes with IE 8, i believe during orientation they said not to install IE 8 as they can't garauntee its compatability with mediasite. i have not updated for this very reason, maybe someone who has can elaborate.
514 points i run windows7 build 7100 with no issues whatsoever (i can mediasite, g-drive, print, etc)
510 points I was just going to say that I've used IE 8 on my computer (Vista-64bit) and it works fine. I prefer firefox it works great too. Better this semester since they upgraded mediasite - my slides didn't used to auto-refresh in firefox
guess that means i'm dl'ing IE8 right now
510 points I'm running windows 7 RC 1(build 7100). I installed the 32bit for compatibility.
So far mediasite works fine with IE8. I've had a small bit of trouble with Ross Net Drive. Sometimes I have to login twice to get the printer to work and sometimes G drive won't show up(I either use G-drive online or reboot then). Printing works fine but took a bit of work to get setup initially.
<--loves Windows 7
510 points I use W7 RC 7100 with no problems. I'm on it right now. I just paused mediasite to reply here - mediasite works perfectly. So does the printing I just did about an hour ago.
516 points Whatever operating sysstem you bring (except for Linusx), you will have technical support from the people at IT. The guys there are great guys that will help you if you have any problems. Furthermore, some of the guys I've met there have been beta testing windows 7 for a while, as they have an extended library of sofware available to them.
My advice, however, is just to stick with vista or xp, for this will only make your life easier on the island, but if you insist of installing windows 7, just beware things may not work 100% at first.
510 points If you get W7 installed and have any issues drop me a PM and I'll help you get it running.
510 points Don't know how I forgot about this but I had to remove W7 off of someone's laptop after it had problems with mediasite. This was after some updates installed. I tried pretty much everything to get it running(downgraded to media player 11, etc.).
If you upgrade make sure you use something like Acronis True Image to create a disk image before you update.
