Question What's avg. cost of living as student in Dominica?

I'm about to move to Dominica to attend Ross. I'm not sure how much I should take out on loans, since I have undergrad loans that I'm still paying off. I'm afraid I will max out if I rent an expensive apt. But then again I feel that my studies will be affected due to power loss and lack of the generator. It would be very helpful to get a rough estimate for a cumulative food, internet, electricity and other expences. Thanks for your help!

-take about $ 50,000 extra a semester. the Dominicans and especially the Ross Administration will try to figure how to get it out of u. Coffee will be $ 100 ec a cup soon. air conditioning is going to cost $ 10,000 a semester, with no guarantee of regular electricity.

electricity is a huge expense, i spent all of my time on campus to charge electronics and things like that. i had a fan set up real close to my bed so i used as little ac as possible.

with rent (300-1000$), electricity (150$), food ($400-600) per month, it can get expensive.

but again after first semester, you'll see what you can save on and what you''ll splurge on.

my once a week splurge was starbucks iced coffee from the bookstore for 15EC.
If you want to do something, then you will find a way.
If you want to do nothing, then you will find an excuse.

Doesn't 15EC around 5USD?? I hope that iced coffee was an iced latte or frappe - Only saying because that sounds like a splurge I would like to have as well.

I'm a big fan of waiting and seeing how it goes for you once you arrive on the island. If you have any family support that can bail you out if you need money, then certainly save what you can. If you don't have that financial support, definitely take it all the first semester like IslandThrift said and see how much you have left over and subtract it for next time. Also, IslandThrift, if it's the same one I'm thinking about is a good resource for answers to questions you may have.
