Ross medical Insurance

Our members don't see this ad.
Attention all students on the island!

Don't pay for ross medical insurance on the island! I got sick and found out recently from the admin. that ross insurance doesn't cover the expenses on the island!!! It only covers your fee when you are in the US.

This is totally ridiculous!!! Use that money and find other insurance company that pays for your expenses!

islandthrift will become famous soon enough
If that is really the case, there is one on vmd somewhere that my husband had used. It covers expenses when out of the US and has the emergency evacuation part too.

insurance

What I post is true!

New students or students who are still on the island, buy it from somewhere else, if island thrift has any other recommended place, please post.

No need to spend at least $1000 or so before you can find out that it's no use!!!

insurance

I have insurance back home that covers out of the country too but because I thought about the emergency evacuation that's why I bought it just in case, but it's totally not worth it! Like I said if Island Thrift or somebody else can recommend something better, buy that!

I just googled something about emergency medical evacuation insurance. I added it along with my normal insurance with my parents. I don't remember the exact company (maybe traveinsure.com) but it was pretty cheap regardless.

I agree that it is a huge ripoff to be buying insurance that can only be used 3 times a year and that makes you send in forms for reimbursement of medication, etc, not to mention the deductibles.

Schools the size or Ross can definitely come up with self-insurance plans that would be cheaper for students and much more user friendly. My undergrad school had about the same number of students and had fantastic insurance.

Aetna is making a killing off of Ross students. HMOs can burn in the hot place.

However, I have learned that buying some medication full price is cheaper in Dominica than paying the monthly copay in the states (things like Ambien believe it or not.) However, not every thing is stocked here.

I am going to switch to my parents plan and buy my own evacuation insurance next semester though.

I don't know much about it, but the OP says Ross' insurance covers only in the US....so you'd be covered
