    Question Other than snacks...what should I ship?

    I got a barrel and I'm shipping snacks such as chips, cookies, etc. What else should I ship? Any ideas? What did you ship?

    this may sound weird, but extra shoes/flipflops etc bc the terrain is prety rough you will wear them out...
    also:
    tylenol, non-medical books/magazines of interest, DVD movies, lots of ear plugs, a GREAT umbrella, a poncho (yes u will wear it believe me), make sure u have a good lap top case super water proof, a book stand so u dont strain your neck whne ur studying 10 hrs/day... a really good pillow too, good glashlight...so much more, cant think of it all now

    Question Ship food for 1 semester or 2?

    I sweat this is my last shipping thread...
    Should I ship enough food (snacks, protein stuff, cereal, oatmeal) for one semester or should I ship enough to last me 8 months for 2 semesters? Advice???

    food

    I shipped alot of food when I was on the island...it really helped. Keep in mind that its really humid on the island and there are alot of bugs there...so what I did was I brought big ziplock bags to bags things to ensure freshness and prevent bugs from coming in. Go to costco for bulks. If you have nice family members that can send stuff for you, I would only send things for one semester and have different snacks or new ones sent later. Its nice to get packages when you're on the island...like its christmas!!!!

    biggest mistake I did was not taking lots of shorts and t-shirts. You will need a lot of those. Also ship extra flipflops, slippers, sandals along with deodorant and soap. All these things get used a lot.

    The only thing I wish I had brought so far was more of my favorite foods, things that are cheap in the US but aren't here like pasta and tomato sauce.
