510 points Totally doable
Doable, but unnecessary, I had 3.0s in previous semesters, currently have 4.0 in this semester, don't feel any different...

510 points Very doable to get 4.0. There were about 30 of us in first semester who got 4.0's and about 15 to 20 that still have a 4.0 after 2nd. So far 3rd isn't any harder than 1st or 2nd so that's the only perspective I can offer so far.
Step 1 and Step 2 are the most important (along with LORs), but the residencies do see your GPA. While GPA's are subjective from school to school, it can hurt and/or help you. Someone who goes to a pass/fail school may only have passes which could be worth a 2.0-4.0 but if you have a 3.8 GPA, then there is much less doubt about how well you did. On the flip side, a bunch of "passes" looks a little better than a 2.0 GPA. The other way some residencies will look at your GPA is if they see an awful GPA but you get a 250 on the step, they may start to question you....kind of like if you do amazing on MCAT and have an awful undergrad GPA.
bottom line is, excel at everything you do.....its gonna be scrutinized one way or another.

Step is waay more important than GPA, but yes, if you have like 2.0 you will raise a red flag. But if you keep above a 3.0 and do well on the Step, don't sweat the tenths of a point

cool, thank you everyone.
GPA has a factor in residency, just as GPA has a factor in undergraduate, and medical school admissions. anyone who thinks not, might just be legally insane.
