Future MD's Please wear some deodorant

Since the topic of dress was hot, I thought the topic of BO (excessive and testing my gag reflexes) could be discussed. Do people not know that when you are in a hot and humid place such as Dominica, deodorant and/or antiperspirant is a MUST? I hate walking anywhere on or off campus and smelling other's nasty bo. Any of you agree? Wouldn't bad BO turn a patient or even other collegues off?

would you be turned off by a patient who has a BO?
if yes, honestly speaking, this might not be the career for you because you're gonna see less than perfect people in your practice and some of them would be homeless, people who dont even have a chance to take a bath, lt alone a deodorant.

I think that is his point.....the people who smell are generally accepted as poor, homeless, "socioeconomically marginalized" (I read was the PC term for it now...lol), or essentially as someone with poor hygiene. Basically, as a doctor, you should be representing yourself as a doctor and should therefore not have the personal hygiene of a homeless person and are supposed to appear clean. Reeking of BO doesn't exactly give off that "clean image." And I agree, there are WAYY to many people on this campus who need to step it up to high endurance or something....

I meant wouldn't a patient be turned off by a physician who has bad BO. Appearance makes an impression but so does hygiene. No, I don't mean the patient(s).

Eh..yes to pony tails, as long as they are not painted with a traumatic color.

no to long nails because it can contribute to spread of diseases.
If you aint got it in your genes, sweat it out.
