Michigan State Becomes 20th Clinical Training Affiliate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine

Michigan State to Provide Clinical Experience as Part of Ross Students' Final Three Semesters of Veterinary Education





Ross University, one of the world's largest providers of medical and veterinary education, announced that Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine will begin offering clinical training to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine students as part of their final three semesters of veterinary education. Michigan State is the 20th American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)-accredited school to become affiliated with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Having awarded more than 1300 doctor of veterinary medicine degrees since opening in 1982, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine offers comprehensive veterinary training modeled after U.S. programs. Students spend the first seven semesters of pre-clinical training at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine campus on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts, before returning to the U.S. for three semesters of clinical training at an affiliated, AVMA-accredited school of veterinary medicine.

As an affiliated institution, Michigan State will provide Ross students a total of 48 weeks of training, including 10 required core clerkship experiences and six elective experiences consisting of one externship and five veterinary teaching hospital blocks. Students will be reviewed and admitted by Michigan State's academic dean and will be subject to the same academic standards as Michigan State students. After completing the clinical training, Ross students will be eligible for national licensing exams.

that was uncalled for and totally irrelevant , unfounded and stupid.

i'm sure ross medical would love to have more top notch clinical affiliations for its program , ( wouldnt ANY medical school want that for its students and its reputation ? ) ,but the reality is that it would be much harder in the human field given different rules , politics and regulations , BUT ross has done a great job in getting clinicals for its med students and it is my hope that as the student population and graduates grow , so will their clinical affiliations .

does anyone know how the different clinical sites are rated ..i.e NY sites vs MD vs Chicago vs FL etc .

Michigan State is the "cow college" (agricultural)

You could cheer really loudly if Ross became affiliated with the Univ. of Michigan, which is the home of Mich's Med school.

Your comment about MSU being the "cow college" is ignorant. MSU is a well respected university. In addition to its strong agriculture academic program, it has a nationally ranked education program. It is one of only a few universities that offers an undergraduate degree in physiology. The list goes on. This is a major accomplishment for Ross to be affiliated with Michigan State University. You sound like a hater anyway, but I wanted to set the record straight.

Sorry for that Cow College comment, but thats what Mich State is well known for is their ag college. Youre the one who is Ignorant not know that its known by that term. The other parts other than ag have come a long way in the last 25 years but its still known as michigan's cow college. Im from Michigan and I know whats its called. No ignorance on my park here just plain knowledge of what its called even today.

You seem to object to that, in fact its quite an honor for michigan to have such a fine ag school. Why you so up tight about that, I didnt say that it was only known for its ag program, in fact i know full well it has a very good study program in all the sciences and tech programs. Youre the one here who is too thin skinned, relax a bit and dont be offended by a comment of "Cow College", You cant change what its known for.

See for yourself, Ask any Michigan which college is the Cow College and they will tell you Mich State.
