my reasons for ross over sgu is also kind of long and complicated. i ultimately personally think that at times sgu likes putting ross down without really having the stats to back them. aside from the fact that sgu is a few years older and has clearly an amazing looking campus, im pretty sure ross has an equal, if not higher pass rate on step one. sgu doesnt require students to provide their match results either, which i found a little off.
it was a difficult decision, but i am fairly confident in my decision ....
when i asked both my interviewers about usmle average scores, ross had the stat of 235 to give me, while sgu said "oh i dont know, whatever the avergae usually is in the US, probably around 190" -- which persoanlly kind of bothered me -- first clearly bc my interviewer didnt know their latest classes average, secondly if it is 190 (im not sure if it is, i dont think it is), then that is low, and lastly, being an international school, i felt they should have known the US average, which was actually around 245 this past year. i mean to keep it real, we already have a strike against us being fmg's -- where i can get the highest score and therefore a competitive residency is important, ya know?
additionally, i got acceptance from ross a few days after interviewing, while sgu took about 4 weeks, ross is less expensive than sgu, we're going to be back in the US months earlier than students from sgu, and overall i received a lot of personal attention from ross's staff. i kind of felt just like a number at sgu.
sound at all familiar to anyone else??
That sounds too high. Maybe 215 but 235?

Hey, my name is Umang and I was just wondering if there is anyone who is perhaps still looking for a roommate for starting in Sept. I don't really have a preference as to where to live but as long as its reasonable price of ~400 per month and has all the basic amenities. Feel free to contact me here or on the facebook network and congrats to all the people who have been accepted and i will meet in about two months.

unless you have a C or below in a course, i was advised, not to waste time retaking it. anyone is expected to do better in the exact same course the second time around; doing better in the same course wont impress anyone. i know people who have gotten into DO, MD caribbean, and MD in the states, who have had a C or two on their transcript. your overall bcpm (bio, chem, physcis, math; a.k.a "science gpa) usually counts more and what will be looked at. id say if you have at the very very least a 3.0 bcpm u should be alright ....
if you have a poor grade in a course, id recommend taking an additional course in the same subject area and do well in it rather then wasting time redoing the exact same course.

What does it mean to be approved in all 50 states. Does that mean that one can work in all 50 states. I am confused how does Caribbean med schools work. Am I going to be able to work in anywhere in America after graduation?

my best advice to you to have these kinds of questions answered would to be contact a pre-medical advisor at your undergrad school (i'm assuming youre in undergrad since you said u were looking to start school in winter of 2011....), contact schools, or to find a forum on valueMD for pre-medical students; aside from using a specific classes forum to ask questions about the pre-med process.
