Question lacking in clinical experience

I have an interview in April for the September class, but I am severely lacking in the amount of my clinical experience...which is to say I do not have ANY. I got my B.S. in Finance and went back to school to do premed post-bac. I currently manage a Starbucks and while I have leaderhsip ability and experience, I am extremely lacking in the medical experience portion. Any ideas on how much that will hurt my chances? What chances do you think I have considering my position?

thats very good. You seem to have a lot of leadership and responsibility type of experience which is always a plus. Your GPA and MCAT is very good as well. You have shown maturity by enrolling into a post-bacc program. Talk about how you did not have time away from school and work to put into more extracurricular activities. I dont think it should be a big thing as your other stuff looks really good.

good luck and dont mess up the interview. Follow the interview questions that are posted on this forum and you should be a strong candidate. Myself and everyone that I know and have talked to have gotten pretty much the exact same questions.

As long as you can show the interviewer what you are getting yourself into by doing medicine, your lack of clinical experience won't matter much. Clinical experience usually shows dedication to the field of medicine and it also provided you with an opportunity to see first hand what your future may be like. It is really to distinguish the understanding for medicine from what is shown on TV dramas.

Since you changed from Finance to medicine I am sure you have a good reason to do so, talk about it and why you are passionate about medicine.

Your stats are much better than mine...I had no clinical but a lot of research and I was still accepted for the Fall '08 class

advice for April

Two words:

"Free Coffee"

Tell them that you will supply the faculty with the ever-addicting Starbuck's liquid gold and they will absolutely accept you.

Start stealing it now.

I can guarantee with 99.9% certainty that as long as you don't urinate on the interviewer, you'll get in.
