Residency in Puerto Rico?

I am looking to find out if the residencies in Puerto Rico are conducted in english or spanish? I have an interview coming up in Puerto Rico for an ACGME certified EM residency. The email inviting me out for an interview was all in spanish. Its obvious I will have to communicate verbally in spanish with the majority of the patients, however, i was wondering about the paperwork. Are the patient notes/HPI's in spanish? Are the institution based tests in spanish? Anybody have an opinion on doing residency in Puerto Rico?

Pr

I know Physician from PR and he said you document in English.

An ACGME accredited residency in EM Puerto Rico or anywhere is awesome! Go for it and Buenas Suerte!

if you are not fluent in spanish... you will probably have a hard time getting it.. not to discourage you, but paperwork in english is one thing.. getting a good history in an ER without speaking the language (spanish, chinese or whatever) is another story... Good luck and just work hard. if you are a good candidate and you can prove you speak enough spanish to survive.. but the residency is in spanish, you present patients to attendings in spanish etc.....

i applied there and didnt hear a thing from them. i did tell them i speak fluent spanish, but i think they figured a guy from chiocago probably doesnt speak spanish good enough. I guess i should have had one of my mexican patients who asked me what country i was from tell them my spanish is pretty good.

FireFighter, call me crazy but Ive seen some of your posts and I don't think the words you know in spanish will be much help to the patients and they could seriously get you into to trouble! LOL
