Student insurance "maxed" - money for transplant needed!

If you are a Ross student or a friend of a Ross student, or if you believe that every human being has a right to receive the care that he or she needs in order to live a healthy life, YOU CAN HELP!!!

For more information, go to:

http://healdario.googlepages.com/

Dario, a student at Ross, had the standard student health insurance...but the insurance ran out soon after he was diagnosed with ALL. Without the help of his fellow students and community, he will not receive the bone marrow transplant that will save his life.

What can you do?
  • Donate directly to Washington Mutual Bank Benevolent Account No. 9343737338 or through paypal at healdario - How to donate
  • Write letters to your political representatives and tell them that it should not be ok for a medical student (or any person for that matter) to be denied a life-saving procedure.
  • In general, SPREAD THE WORD! The more quickly the money is raised, the sooner Dario can get the transplant he needs.
Thank you!

This is such a sad story! It could be anyone of us! We have made a small donation. Every little bit counts!

thanks for publishing. Perhaps Ross can fundraise or contribute? Our thoughts to him, his family, his friends and the whole Ross community.

Does anyone know if the stem cells from cord blood would be a viable option in a situation like this? Provided the two were a match?

This is beyond sad.......

It's scary because this could be any of us. We all know that Ross's "insurance" is a big joke......I haven't had an exam in almost 4 years, thanks to Ross.

Beyond that, though, we should all do something to help. I made a donation, and I'm just as poor as the rest of you guys. If thousands of people would donate even 20 bucks each, that would go such a long way to help this guy out.

I personally don't know Dario, but my heart goes out to him and his family. Money should never be the deciding factor on whether a person lives or dies. It's just not right.

**Here is the contact info for Senator Bill Nelson of Florida. Perhaps if we flood the office with calls and emails regarding our fellow Ross student, he can make something happen for Dario.**

So guys, take a minute of your time to do something worthwhile. Instead of checking your myspace for the thousandth time, just take a sec and email Sentor Nelson.
