Exclamation How long to get USMLE results?

    Advertisements

Hi everyone! I'm finally days away from leaving the island but had a question for those who have completed the island and beyond. Especially if you have taken the USMLE in the May-June time - how long did it take to get your results back?

I was planning and hoping to start my rotations July 1st first but need my scores reported to me ASAP (which I am sure everyone wants) for the approval of the rotations. Would taking it at the end of May be early enough?

Any thoughts would be great - thank you!

you are going to be taking it in the peak time when all the US students take it so expect to receive scores up till 6 weeks, thats the official time line anyways, i.e they wont entertain your inquiry of scores until 6 weeks have passed.
but right now during off peak times it can take as little as 3 weeks.

I took mine in Oct 2005 and got my results in the 27th of November- same deal with step 2 CK, less than 4 weeks.
But when I start to feel that pull, turns out I just pulled myself-Weezer

the may to july period for step I is the busiest since most US students are taking it then. Normally its 3-4 weeks, but during that time period it can be double that. If you want it back by July 1st, you should probably take step I by the middle of may.

Thanks, I actually took my exam the 14th of May, it's been slightly over 6 weeks and I was starting to wonder what the hell was going on considering one of my friends got her results 14 days after.

Did you have the new form? I took mine on the 17 of May and got my results 2 weeks ago. My form was an old one.

    according to the usmle website:

"The decrease in the number of items per form will be accounted for in scoring the examination results, so that scores on new and old forms will be comparable. Because of these changes in timing, as well as modifications to the test item pool and the processing load caused by a heavy volume of test takers, there will be a delay in score reporting for most Step 1 examinations administered in the second half of May and June. The target date for reporting Step 1 scores for most examinees testing from May 15 through late June will be Wednesday, July 16, 2008."
