Accepted for May, defer to Jan 2009?

I am accepted for May 2008, but I am seriously considering deferring until Jan 2009. I asked for Fall 2008, but was denied because "it is the largest most competitive class." I want to defer because I plan to get married before going, and I can't do that before I'd have to leave in May. If I go we'll have to squeeze it in on some break in the next year...that doesn't sound like fun. She plans to go with me, so if I defer until January we can save up more money and get married before we go. Fall would have been ideal, but what's another 4 months...
Any thoughts? I know that deferring two semesters will probably delay residency a year, but from they way it sounds...there's not guarantee when I'll get done with clinicals anyway.

Thx

You have to do what works for you and your family. If you're okay with delaying your studies for another year and beelive it is better in the long run for you and your fiancee then go for it.

So, it's always best to seek out a professor's assistance after hours. The great thing about Ross professors is that their only role is to teach; they don't have research or other projects going about. Personally, I find Peer Tutoring sessions most helpful because they're students just like us and will most likely give you the real deal as to what's up. Hope that helps.
Thanks for all this info. It's good to know the prof are available. They try to highlight that aspect during interview but you are always a little skeptical b/c you know these ppl are trying to sell the school to you but when you hear it from students you are convinced. I love this peer tutoring idea. I used to be a peer tutor in ungrad.
JCU, you are very positive and helpful, wish you best of luck dude.

I was wondering if you guys are securing housing now or are going to wait until arriving in Dominica? Does anyone know about the best housing apts. over there?

Do a search because I've spoken about some of the better options MANY times!

seeing your post is actually a little scary. I am in the same situation as you and my stats and program is exactly as same as yours but a different school and state.

anyways, i am trying to secure housing before i get on the island. I have been talking to a couple people that are still on the island and got some advice from them as to what apartments to go for.

The clinical issue is a concern. Have you applied to other schools? I don't understand people's willingness to gamble with Ross.

All the best

Thumbs up

Hey everyone... I will be starting in May as well. I have decided to secure housing in advance, but am seeking a room mate. The housing I chose is considered high end from what I understand. It is $1400 / month, 1100 square feet with 2 bed, and 2 bath. Fully furnished.
It is at kootney resorts, which is roughly 7 minutes from campus.

Kootney Resort

^ Kootney is a great choice. They're probably the nicest complexes I've seen from the entire offcampus selection offered at Ross. BUT, Kootney is most certainly NOT 7 minutes from the main campus. :P
Shouldn't matter in the short run though since you'll be pretty close to the Annex and if you find yourself to be a library person, shuttles run every hour that'll take you straight to your door. So no worries.
