I agree with ERP...do NOT rent from Mamies. Also, do not rent form Casa Blanca. I know of several people there that were evicted for very odd reasons and the locks are changed immediately and your possesions are taken and kept by the landlord whether you have a lease or not!

I knew there had to be some digression for one of my topics to receive so many posts. And I was right...
As for the person who asked about the laundry, I've seen a couple of people doing their own, but the norm from my experience is to have it done for you. And honestly, you're going to be too busy with biochem, and anatomy, and embryo, and histo, and trying to eat normally, and sleep enough to stay sane, that you won't want to be worrying about separating your darks and your whites. In some apartments buildings, the cleaning lady will take it to the laundry for you, but again, that's the exception. And some of the laundries will offer to pick up & deliver. Either way, they do it, and they do a pretty good job. Expect your stuff to get done by the next day, and always remember that there's the potential for stuff to - how should I put this politely - get mixed up... so I wouldn't recommend bringing your nicest gear. Also, they don't iron it, that's extra. It gets washed, dried, folded, and put back into the laundry bag you gave it to them in. This means that chances are your stuff's gonna be a little wrinkled. But what's a wrinkled t-shirt in this heat? *shrug. Oh, and least I forget, I've been paying about $30-35 EC for two-week's worth of clothes, linens, etc. I would suggest that you just ask for recommendations when you get here as to which places are good. And remember, as with everything life, with Ross, if you ask enough people, you're gonna find someone who's had a bad experience with almost anything. In my case it's Stabox/Fusion cafe - good food, sketchy service. But that's a whole different post. Nap time! |
