out for good
Once you are dismissed I don't beleive you can be radmitted to ROSS. Whether some of the smaller Carib schools would admit you after you passStep 1 can be addressed by others. If you can't passStep 1 in three tries you shouldconsider another field of study.

well thanks for the pep talk. Really. Feels great. I know people come on this forum for cheering up and hopeful outcomes. Though I never said that I couldnt pass this in 3 attempts. I was asking because on the Ross website handbook, it says that there will be a dismissal after 3 failed attempts but may be considered for readmission with some additional coursework. I wanted to know if anyone fell into that and what was it.

If this isn't you, then don't even think about the options.. just study hard and think positive.. If this is you, yes, I know people who were to be dismissed but got professors to call in for them and based on that, weren't dismissed... Again though, if you failed step 1 three times, even if you aren't dismissed, obtaining a competitive or even a mediocre residency position is going to be extremely difficult... so again, if this isn't you, don't think about it. If this is you, contact professors who you know that can vouch for you as a good student. Best of Luck, A |

i know two people who failed multiple times. one transfered out, then back to ross..the other took it a fourth time with ross's permission-passed and moved on.

not necessarily in stone
Don't listen to singer . He's never taken the test so he doesnt know what its like . Apparently having 2 genius sons and wanting to live to 120 yrs makes him an expert , don't bother with him .
Just bc someone u know may fail the test 3 times doesnt mean they can't progress . I personally know of a doc who took the test more than 3 times . He's not from ross , but hes a practicing doctor . A kaplan teacher told me of a guy that took the test way more than 3 times and still is a doctor today ! Lawyers fail their boards multiple times , no reason to expect doctors to be any different . The best someone in that situation can do is to appeal and try again . Bright people can fail that test . Every case is different . Good luck . |

If it is your situation , don't let people get you down . Passing the test is no indication of your potential as a doctor .
Just fyi , my friend took both the canadian and us medical licensing exam - the usmle exam is comparitively much harder. If it is really your situation , keep going , you made it through basic sciences - a fourth time may bring success ... imagine how many times thomas edison failed ? ( what's his famous quote ?" you have not failed - you only have found 3 ways that havent worked the next try may bring success ! |
