point ?
You are not experienced enough to know that you don't have a point . Ask anyone who is going through residency - at the end of residency , everyone in that particular program is pretty much at the same level - regardless of their usmle history ..

3rd attempt
Actually this failing score i recieved was my second try. I was thinking ahead for "just in case" I dont pass my 3rd try. So I do have another chance but I didnt even get close to passing. I have done falcon for the 2nd try and it obviously didnt work. I think I am lacking in questions. I know the material just have to master applying it to questions. I have always been a bad test taker. I took the NBME and scored around 190 twice. BORDERLINE. Is there perhaps a way to get a tutor to help me master answering questions? And how long should I take before my next try?

- If you're not already doing it, USMLEWorld!! This questionbank is awesome in its questions and explanations. The questions overall are harder than the real thing, and you'll learn a lot just by reading the explanations. Also, a number of people report that they get a handful of questions that are almost verbatim from UWorld on their exam. - TommyK's concepts here on VMD. Very HY and spot on. He took questions from people's experiences and started posting questions on them. http://www.valuemd.com/tommy.php - Did you take all the NBMEs?

1. Ist step - look at your profile and take note of the weak areas . Focusing heavily on these will be your highest yield . 2.KNOW 1st AID inside out . Its better to really know this book than have 6 or 7 books superficially . 3.Do questions . Do at least 2000 questions . Do robbins review of Path . Listen to Dr Goljan ( he's not 120 yrs but he's a million times better of a human being than some old duck on here who told you thatyou shouldnt be in medicine . Goljan will show you how to think and PASS . 4 Find meaning in this whole experience . Don't be disheartened . Let this motivate you to work harder . YOU ARE CLOSE . Would you give up on a dying patient . NO , you exhaust ALL efforts and still then don't give up . This is exactly what you are doing - don't give up on the patient . Give it your very best . I mean your very best . Don't even think of failing . You have made it this far , don't give up ! It can be done . If you are going to come on here , stay away from pessimist and ignorant , arrogant posters who don't know what they are talking about . I would really respect and accept you as my doctor anyday and given your efforts despite the setbacks would make me respect you even more . You would have lived more than some 60 yr wanting to live 60 more yrs . Your place would not be with such a timid soul who doesnt know success or defeat . Go pass that test !!!! |

I second both MDSoon and stateofequilibrium, get the question bank from the place stateofequilibrium was talking about and print out MDsoons response and use it as a bookmark that you keep looking at. I have not taken step 1 let alone passed it but I am a college professor and know if your problem is test taking and the questions not the material then work with lots of questions and the reasoning behind them. Good Luck to you.

I know a guy at Ross who failed Step 1 3 times at a US med school, was booted out, and transferred to Ross. He passed Step 1 his next attempt and ended up easily matching after passing Step 2 on his first attempt. You won't have any problem finding a decent FP spot with 3 fails on Step 1, provided you pass Step 2 on your first attempt.
