How do clinical rotations work, someone please explain!

Hey, just wondering how the process of choosing a clinical rotation site in the US, actually works. I understand that there are 4 semesters of science in Dominca, than a 5th in Miami, FL, where we prepare for step 1. Than we take step one, and go on to clinical rotations in the US. How do we choose which teaching hospital we go to? Does the university choose, do we choose, any help would be great, thanks!

This is going to sound really harsh but I think its for your benefit.

Coming on here and posting 3 or 4 new threads on questions you have before actually using the great search feature or even browsing a few threads down is really very lazy. I know you think you have a very specific question that isn't answered anywhere else but it really is answered elsewhere. Get used to the search feature on this site as its one of the best ways to glean information from this board.

I am saying this is for your benefit because you will need to get used to doing the legwork on your own at Ross. Whether thats just finding housing, teaching yourself during the basic sciences, or during rotations. It will serve you well to be able to research these things on your own because you will not be spoon fed down here.

Whats the point of a forum then? To ask and answer questions, maybe?

So then lets answer every pre-answered question over and over again? Hence the reason for the Stickies - so people won't have to ask questions that have already been asked.

hey Aslam ROSSMD, once you pass your step 1 you fax the score report to NJ office and they make a schedule for you. You could e-mail or call them and tell them if you want a certain hospital or location for your rotations. Elective rotations you have to set up yourself and then notify your clinical advisor. Dont worry about all this yet you will find out more about this when time comes, for now just focus on your basic science. GOOD LUCK

How about not clicking the post if you hate seeing questions being asked that you feel are redundant?

thanks alot, that really helps. I got an idea of how it works now. I apologize also, for those who thought I was asking repeated questions. I do a general search of the forum of what I need to find. If I don't find it, I go ahead and post. BUt thanks, for answering.
