Greengirl, I have a friend that could hook you up in Brooklyn for any rotation other than peds. She's also at Ross now. She told me she thinks Ross might have forgot that peds is required to practice medicine. I think she was just kidding. But I feel sorry for you guys.

Uhhh...pardon me if I'm totally ignorant but how do you plan on trading rotations with someone else? I don't think you're allowed to assign who takes your rotation once you give it up. From what I understood, once you give up a rotation, it goes back into the pool of rotations available to students that is in Ross' computer system. Then it is kind of a free for all between the clinical counselors of who can assign it to their students. Please enlighten me if I am wrong.

Basically what you do is call your advisor and tell them "Hey, I have a friend who's doing Peds at "_______" but who would really like to do it at "________".
Your clinical advisor will then tell you to both send him/her an email verifying this information. This is very easy to do. I personally switched out 2 of my core rotations that way so far. There's nothing wrong about it, either. Basically, the way I look at it is this --- if Ross did a better job of matching students up with rotations then we wouldn't have to do so much extra crap trying to get our schedules in order. Sigh. That is the price we pay for foreign education I suppose. |

I was gonna merge this with the St. B's thread on the Ross US Clinical site subforum, but since it has gotten off track with a different, but important message, I'm letting it stand independently.

Wykoff
Grab ahold of J***** at Wykoff...plead, beg...whatever......he's sincere, dedicated, and helpful........... unless he's completely overwhelmed by the tremendous increase in Ross students seeking clinical spots....in which case it's a whole new ballgame from a couple years ago. Ross needs to fix/remedy the problem or the $$$/income/ reputation will deminish within a short period.
My thoughts. My kid completed Ross Med School in 38 months....now starting 2nd yr residency in a good IM program. Ross was a great opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream.........hope Ross will not "tank" because of a lack of competent management regarding clinical rotation availability.

The peds and ob/gyn rotation issue is a big problem. P.P. in the clinical office has been telling people that if they want to finish their rotations in time to graduate.............that they should go to DOMINICA for Ob and Peds!?!? He has also said that if they're not willing to go to Dominica then they are SOL.
In terms of Wyckoff.......apparently the director there was contacting NP for a long time to renew the contract........as is typical for Ross, she never got back to him in time.........so, now AUC is the major affiliate with Wyckoff and will get first go at the rotations there. |
