Dr. Nancy Perri Named Vice President of Academic Affairs of Ross University

EDISON, N.J., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ross University, one of
the world's largest providers of medical and veterinary education, announced
that Nancy A. Perri, M.D., has been named vice president of academic affairs.
For the past 12 years Dr. Perri, one of Ross University School of Medicine's
first graduates, has served and will continue to serve as dean of clinical
sciences for the medical school.
Having been a pioneer in the creation of Ross' clinical department, Dr.
Perri now will oversee accreditation, licensure and regulatory affairs
activities conducted in the United States for the medical and veterinary
schools.
"Dr. Perri has been instrumental in the growth and success of Ross
University for more than a decade," said Dennis J. Keller, acting president of
Ross University. "As dean of clinical education, she has been a guiding force
in the development of our outstanding academic programs, and we are confident
that she will be equally invaluable to Ross in her new role."
Dr. Perri's academic experience includes teaching at Downstate Medical
Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., in the Department of Renal Diseases as a preceptor
for Introduction to Clinical Medicine and as a faculty preceptor in Clinical
Medicine and Nephrology. Her professional committee assignments have included
seats on St. Elizabeth's Hospital residency review and ethics committees. She
is also a member of the admissions committee for Ross University School of
Medicine and a member of Ross University's executive committee.
Dr. Perri was a member of Ross University's first graduating class,
receiving her M.D. degree cum laude in 1982. She earned a bachelor of science
degree from St. Peter's College in 1978.
Dr. Perri's post-graduate education included residency training in the
Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of
New Jersey's St. Elizabeth's Hospital, where she was appointed chief medical
resident, becoming one of the first Ross graduates to achieve this
distinction. Dr. Perri also was awarded a fellowship in the Division of
Renal Diseases at the State University of New York (SUNY) Hospital/Health &
Science Center and completed a post-doctoral program in transplant nephrology
in the Department of Cell Physiology/Immunology at SUNY Downstate.
Dr. Perri's principal areas of research and publications have included
post-doctoral work at SUNY Downstate's Department of Immunology and a
collaborative research project involving patients with systemic lupus
erythematosus in the Department of Transplant Surgery, among others. Dr.
Perri has also researched rehabilitation by hemodialysis in diabetic
nephropathy under supervision of Eli A. Friedman, M.D. While at St.
Elizabeth's Hospital, she conducted research on peritoneal dialysis in
collaboration with the Department of Renal Diseases at Georgetown University
School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.

About Ross University
Ross University is one of the world's largest providers of medical and
veterinary education offering doctor of medicine and doctor of veterinary
medicine degree programs. Founded in 1978, Ross University School of Medicine
is located on the Caribbean island of Dominica. Since 2002, it placed more
graduates into first year residency positions than any other U.S. or foreign
medical school. Established in 1982, Ross University School of Veterinary
Medicine is located on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts/Nevis. The school has
promoted more students into clinical clerkships at affiliated U.S. Colleges of
Veterinary Medicine than any other school in the world.
While Ross is considered an "offshore" school, the medical students, spend
more time in the U.S. than in the Caribbean, with the last five semesters
spent completing clinical rotations at a network of top U.S. teaching
hospitals. The veterinary students spend the final three semesters at one of
20 affiliated U.S. institutions. Ross students are held to the same high
standards and must pass the same licensing exams as graduates of U.S. schools.
A division of DeVry Inc. (NYSE: DV), an international higher education
company, Ross University enrollment, registrar and financial aid services are
located in Edison, N.J. For more information about Ross University, visit
