Don't believe everything you read on here

One word of advice to those reading the posts on Internet Message Boards:

DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ!

I have read many, many wrong assertions, opintions, and supposed facts on this board. Some are made by people with alterior motives, others with wrong information, others who just want to mess with people. Whatever the reason, check the facts yourselves.

I read on here that the May class was full: WRONG!

I read on here that if you do rotations at non-Ross affiliated hospitals you will not be licensed in certain states: WRONG!

I read that PACE students do not do dissections: WRONG!

I made calls and found out that this information is wrong after speaking to Ross admin.

Actually, this one is right. I do applaud that you do not blindly believe everything but in the same regard...DO NOT believe everything the Ross admin tells you. They are not exactly the bastion of principle, honesty and forthrightness. Ask any 4th year/recent alum of their opinions of PP, NP, LD, etc....

They said that there were people who went about arranging rotations on their own at different hospitals and Ross made a special arrangement with the hospital so that they students were still licensed by all 50 states. I called and specifically spoke to someone in the clinical department in NJ. They said they did their ENTIRE rotations outside of Ross affiliates and were still licensed by all 50 states.

Would they intentionally mislead you? Isn't that grounds for some sort of punitive action?

Why wouldn't someone be able to do all their rotations outside Ross affiliates and still be licensed in all 50 states? As long as they are all green book, should it matter? I would imagine Ross has to pay something for the students to rotate there, since they pay the affiliates. I guess that would make them an affiliate since they have a business relationship, if only for that one person. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Only if you can get them to put it in writing. It becomes a he-said, she-said. When/if you run into problems in the future and you claimed that you spoke to someone in NJ about this specifically...what would Ross claim? That you, the simpleton student, simply misunderstood and therefore MUST BE WRONG.

The information about doing clinical cores within Ross affiliates is not something made up...it is in the various by-laws of State medical boards. It is in writing and freely available to the public.

There are often times NJ would say something...and when I ask if I could have it in writing, they sheepishly say that they "don't do that." I even offer to drop by the NJ office to pick up whatever document they have or I offer to drop by with a voice recorder...no deal.

Pace students DO NOT DISSECT as of this semester! You should e-mail the head of the Pace program instead of the NJ office to get mroe accurate information.

pace and dissections

i'm a first semester right now and i know for a fact that pace doesnt dissect. They do go to lab. They have it twice a week...if its not canceled. They basically go in and have a prossected body ready for them and they have a prossector there going over with them the different structures they need to identify for about an hour. Its a pretty sweet deal because you dont have to spend two or three hours sweating over the body trying to remove fat and isolating important structures yourself, and half the time you do't even know whats what. The only way a person from pace can dissect is if they leave the program and join the regular labs.
