Thread: Ferries to bring in vehicles?

Hello, I am a prospective Ross student. I'd love to bring my motorcycle to the island, but I'm having a hard time finding out about vehicle-carrying ferries. Does anyone have any information on mainland-wherever-Dominica shipping of motorcycles?

The only ferry that I know of is the one that runs between the Leeward West Indies islands, and the link for it is at:

You might want to consider contacting some of the freight companies that actually travel between the US and the West Indies. Chances are, the shipping and freight on an item this heavy will be huge. As mentioned, taxes will blow your sox off, too.

A cheaper alternative might be to try to buy or rent a cycle from a local.

Thanks for the ideas, but I'm already upside-down on my vehicle loan for the scoot, so I'd rather bring it and ride the wheels off of it than be paying for two...

Does anyone have names of shippers so I can contact them and get shipping quotes?

Dominica, for all intents and purposes does not have roads. And the few roads it does have, well you'll be killed on them by transport drivers passing cars and bikes around blind corners...but hey...it's your skull

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I think you are expecting things that may be different from reality.

Can someone explain how we got from ferries to my riding skill and bike's handling abilities? I was hoping more than one person would actually attempt to answer the question.

It aint yo riding abilities-its the drivers there.Its only somethin you gotta experence fo yoself.Words cannot describe the feelin of a minivan filled with 20 peeps doin 90 mph,swervin all over the place to avoid potholes the size of a couch that be spaced every 10 feet while havin a conversation with the girl in the back seat and just barely hittin us,the people walkin well off the road.Not to mention all the blind curves,cows that literally are tied to palm trees next to da road-that sometimes get loose,and all the other thangs that the locals do.Nomally-I say dont really trust 99% of the stuff on this bored,but this be the 1% that you may wants to be listenen to.
