speaking of drinking water, i found this product which seems very interesting:Steripen Products
I personally plan on bringing a brita filter pitcher with a bunch of replacement filters. |

I got myself one of those faucet Pur filters and it works great. The filters will get worn out quicker here than what it says on the label though so stock up if you can! My parents are bringing down butt-loads of them during the break. We're on our 4th filter right now because the 1st one was defective, 2nd one worked for a good two months almost, and the third one got obliterated on the way here. Hopefully, this last one will last a while. :P Otherwise, island thrift, here we come! haha
You don't really have to bring your own filter though. Filters are just for convenience. I wouldn't recommend drinking straight out of the tap since it does turn brown once in a while (it's only happened once to me so far). You could get water for cheap at the stores or Ross provides students with filtered faucets on campus for your bottle-filling pleasure. Just get one of those gallon bottles of water (or whatever you prefer) and fill it up on campus. Then, just shove them in your locker until you head home later that day and voila! Free water! :P

if you do invest in one, get the faucet filters. the pitcher filters are a little too bulky to bring down and it might break if you ship it (handling of boxes around here is like a sport where the more you drop it, the more points you get). you can get them from islandthrift from what i hear, but i can't vouch for how cheap/expensive it may be.

We are less expensive than buying anything in the stores around here. Just about everything we sell is used so the prices will always beat the new price (especially on books and electronics!)!

You can drink the water from tab, especially if you have a Brita filter but I would not recommend it. The best thing to do is to fill containers of water from the filtered water available on campus for drinking. You may certainly cook with the tab water and so on through
