    american eagle luggage question

do they allow those rolling carry on bags on american eagle? I called the international desk and told them i am going to go on an american eagle connection and the lady told me that the carry on is 45" inches and 40lbs max. however, recently i read about someone's first term experience where they mentioned that AE took the roller carry on and put it in cargo and only allowed a carry on of 40". Now, this person had a roller and a laptop bag so maybe AE told them only 1 bag...but if those who have gone through this recently can please comment on whether or not we can take a rolling carry on? i'd appreciate it. thanks.

There just is not enough space on in the overheads for a rolling suitcase and there is minimal space at your feet. They will check your rolling carry on as you board the plane and then you retrieve as you get off the plane, seperate from your luggage. So you can take it with you but just not on the AE flight. Also, if you bring a laptop with you in a abckpack, the backpack is not considered a carry on but a personal item. Just another way to get an extra few items with you. This means you can essentially take TWO carry ons on your flight. I hope this helps.

It is stored near the rest of the luggage but not with the rest of the luggage. As you step off the plane, you go to the right and all checked carry ons are dispersed there. You then go inside the airport (which is very tiny I might add) you go through customs, step over the red line, and you have entered the baggage claim section. This is where your luggage will be dispersed. They place it in piles. I would either have unique looking luggage in color or some sort of ribbon tied to your luggage to be able to identify it easily.

You should also remember that if you originate on a flight from the US, you will most likely not succumb to the baggage restrictions on american eagle only (since those are more limited than the regular domestic flights, including the one that you will be on from your US city to San Juan). Even if you fly a different carrier for the first leg, ask them to check the bag all the way thru via American Eagle, as that can be done my agreements most airlines have with AA. That way nobody will notice the weight restrictions and will not hassle you, meaning you can bring more on. good luck
    Good luck.

...and you get charged 55EC everytime you leave the country in taxes (about $22US), so make sure to have the cash with you or they won't let you out.

If you check your carry on on the into the plane, yes you do get it back as soon as you get off the plane. I know this because I have done it several times.
