There are two main companies, b-mobile aka Cable and Wireless, is located on campus and Digicell is located across the street from campus next to Brother's Chinese (owned by the same people who own Brother's). You can use both to call home and both have free incoming calls.

You go to digicel or cable and wireless and buy a prepaid cell phone and minutes. Cable and wireless is on campus and Digicel is across the street. Digicel is 17 cents a minute to call the US, free incoming.

Of course, you can use vonage, skype or cable and wireless sells a phone that has the same technology but you can use a regular phone that plugs into your router.

The best thing to do is purchase a prepaid cellphone to use for 24/7 contact with your family. You recieve free incoming calls and outgoing calls to the US are not that expensive, plus it's prepaid so you can determine how much you want to spend prior to your phone calls. VOIP programs are great for longer phone calls when you are home and not on campus.

Look up Google Voice, it will give you a number to which people can call and text, and you use your computer to answer. Best of all...it's free! Use it all the time, has saved me a decent amount of money when talking to people back home
