Bringing alcohol to the island?

As 1st sem students is it possible to bring alcohol to the island? Maybe some coors or bud light and a couple of bottles of scotch? Also, cigars? Everyone talks about kabuli but if we have the resources can we bring american beers and other liquors? I have a total of 110 lbs in total luggage I can bring to the island...I have alotted 100 lbs for the necessities such as alcohol, potato chips, and cigars...the other 10 lbs is for extra stuff such as toothbrush, clothes, things that aren't so important, etc etc. Customs care about bringing in alcohol? big taxes? or just that nobody actually goes through the hassle of bringing it there?

that is like bringing ice to eskimos!!!!

people usually bring alcohol FROM the islands because its is sooooooo much cheaper to buy it there than in the US (man it is shocking how much it cost up here in NJ!).

Visitors are allowed to bring in items for personal use in reasonable quantities for the duration of their stay. Generally throughout the Caribbean the standard is around 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco, and one to two litres of alcohol.

There are harsh penalties for possession, use or trafficking in illegal drugs, and strict regulations for exporting or temporarily importing firearms, business equipment, paints and varnishes, chemicals and certain animal and plant specimens. It is illegal, even for children, to dress in camouflage clothing or to carry items made of camouflage materials.

For more information call Customs and Excise at 767/266-3700.

how is it possible to bring over from PR or antigua on the exchange flight if we already have an alotted 110 lbs? So what you guys are saying is to pack light, say 10 lbs (for example) and then when I get to PR pick up the remaining 100 lbs of beer, cigs, and chips? Or is there any way of bringing 110 lbs of stuff and then adding to it while in PR on layover (therefor having 130 lbs of stuff persay)? LASTLY and most importantly- Can we bring OVER 110 lbs and pay an overage charge? Say for instance 130 lbs and pay a set charge for every pound we go beyond the 110lbs'? If kubuli is crap how do the students whom reply upon beer to survive get through the week, while on the island? I am a picky beer drinker and try to keep my standards very high and pure...I only drink milwaukees best, miller's "the high life", and on special occasions keystone light (after a good grade or after a child is born, etc). i will not be able to drink kubuli, is there somewhere on the island, i mean anywhere!? that i could find american light beers? although this sounds like something that may only be of importance once a month, i actually require beer multiple times a week, it has to do with my rich roots and family upbringing back home at my old college UT in texas. if it comes down to it i had some packages priced and it is about $90 to bring back quite a few cases of beer or liquor from the US to the island.
