For more information from the US CDC or EPA on insect repellants:

There is one lab where you will need a BP cuff adn a stethescope. If you find someone willing to lend you theirs then you don't need one for the 1st semester. If you plan on joining AMSA and participating in the clinicals they have, then you will want to invest in one for 1st semester. We have two stethescopes at Island Thrift right now that are less expensive than buying them new. They are very lightly used. I'm not even sure the previous owners took them out of the box!

Question Techie question...

I've read in several places, and in the Welcome packet, that cell phone companies provide GSM service. Is anyone aware what bandwidth(s) are used on the island. I want to make sure my phone is compatible. Thanks!

If oyu have a tri or quad band phoen you're good and then you just buy a new sim card when you get down here. If you don't have a tri or quad band phone they have pretty inexpensive phones you can buy down here.

The mosquitos can get in anywhere but screens do help prevent them so try to find an apartment with screens.

All you need is your ipod. You can use it as a flashdrive...
