thanks

Bring 1-3 surge protectors with you because they are very expensive on the island and do not take up that much room and are not heavy. Transformers transform the 220v to 110v so you can use American electronics with the power source in Dominica (you will also want to plug in a surge protector to one of these). DO NOT BUY THESE IN THE US!!! They are VERY heavy and can be bought easily in Dominica either new in the stores OR used from students!

deet vs. picaridin

Hey Islandthrift,

Have you tried insect repellant with picaridin in it? I heard it's supposed to work just as well, if not better than deet, plus i think it's supposed to be safer. Just curious. Also, how many bottles would you recommend bringing?

Thanks!
Gloria

I haven't tried it yet but I would say bring about 3 bottles if you're prone to mosquito bites!

scrubs

i know this might seem like a stupid question.. but for scrubs.. if i buy them in dominica, are there places that i could get them altered? (it's because I'm pretty tiny and i know that the smallest size would probably still be a bit big on me)

You could ask your maid if she knows how to sew or ask other people's if they know how to sew. Also, Island Thrift however sells scrubs size XXS - 6XL!
