I lived in one of the worst roommate situations in Miami from August to November 2006 for MERP. Its a house located off of 98th St and on 72nd Ave, across the street from Dadeland Mall. The Landlord is a very frugal and anal old lady who over charged us on our rent and used minor damages to take a lot out of our deposits. Some of us paid over $1500 for one bedroom and a little less to share a room.
The overpriced rent is not even the biggest issue; since there were 6 MERPers living there, nobody got work down. Most of my roommates were really into partying and it was a very distracting/disturbing enviornment. You have to walk across the street to catch the metro to go to school. It severely effected my grades.
For future students looking for housing in Miami, AVOID LIVING IN THIS HOUSE.

avoid a house two blocks south of bird road close to red road intersection. Its a yellow house with a carport, and the landloard's name is Dianne, she lives in Ohio and you deal with her maintenance man to sign the lease. she is a CROOK...avoid HER at ALL COSTS.

There is a place called Southern Miami Villas, just down the street from the 7000 building (going west towards the 62nd and Bird road aka 40th street intersection). The address is 6165 and 6170 (two buildings) 62nd terrace. A lot of MERPers end up living at these condos. DO NOT rent from a guy named ***** *****. This guy might seem like a straight up legit guy, but is EXTREMELY shady. He will not return your security deposit to you, no matter what he might say. He will take advantage of you, and rip you off, so what ever you do, do not rent from him (esp. if you are going to MERP, or in any way affiliated with Ross). He owns Unit's # 1 and 7 at 6170, and he owns one unit in the 6165 building. Stay as far away from this guy as possible. If you want to know more, you can PM me.

FYI: Do NOT rent Apartment 303 at Valencia Condominiums on 70th street (right down the street from 7000 building). Each apartment in Valencia is individually owned and the landlords of apt 303 are absolutely horrible. They will cheat you out of your security deposit. I'm still fighting to get mine back. I'm thinking of taking it to a small claims court. So if anyone has any experience in that area....any advice would be appreciated.
Anyways....the landlords are Andrew S. and Alex G. and they own apt 303 in Valencia.
