GPA is fine....MCAT is right on the border for most Ros acceptees

Your stats are good enough to be offered an interview :-)

if you pass you get into the next semester, that is why MERP is good. from what i have heard it is also a GREAT review for the real deal, and MERPers do well in SEM 1-4. Lastly, I hear it is a good chance to meet some people before going to the rock

Great LOR, from professors and physician

I say you are good to go...especially if you took a bunch of higher level science courses and did well......make sure you don't mess up the interview

So, here's my stats.... It's kind of on the low, low side, but I would really love to become a MD...
Undergrad GPA ~2.3
Science GPA ~2.3
MUA pre-med 3.9
MCAT 23 R
Good letters of recs from profs and doctors.
Is there any chance that I might skip the pre-meds at Ross?

There are no premed classes at Ross. Just MERP, which is one semester long in Miami.

What are my chances? Age requirements?

Hello there people,

This is my first time posting. I am super excited this year because i have decided to apply to medical school after finding out what i really wanted to do with my life. I am Canadian but with family roots in U.S.

My GPA is 3.914
my science GPA ia higher.
My MCAT is 24M
I have a Masters in Biochem
Research. with 2 publications (maybe a 3rd on the way)
lots of extracurricular activities in hospital, working with cancer patients , homeless shelters, teaching etc >3 years

The only problem is i am 29 and will be 30 this year and I would like to do either family medicine or oncology.

Can someone please tell me what is the average age of your classmates at Ross and if age is a factor in acceptance?
Thanks fellow meds and pre-meds.

Age is NOT a factor in acceptance. The ave age at Ross is a little higher than the ave age at US or Canadian med schools. There are plenty of peopel in their late 20's and early 30's at Ross. You would fit right in and with your gpa, I wouldn't worry about getting rejected...at all...My one suggestion would be to redo the MCAT and try for a US school.

Thanks forum moderator,

Actually I did my MCAT two years ago and I remember how much effort I had to put in to receive a 24! Thanks for the sincere advice, but with the time and resources available to me, I would be happy to attend Ross if they give me a chance. Plus, I have family in Miami so I can stay with them during my 3rd and 4th years.

Thanks for letting me know of the age ranges at Ross. That helps alot.

Well I would say apply and as long as you have a decent interview, you won't have to worry. Good Luck!
