I just recently got accepted to St. Eustatius school of medicine for Upcoming fall semester. Yaaaay!!!! but having second thoughts of going. want to explore my options more.... I currently work under a PH.D in chemistry at a Biotech company as a research and development associate for almost a year now..Have volunteer experience working in homless shleters and Vet Hospital...no med hospital though. Should I apply to ross and saba based upon what I have so far.

Any suggestions. Thanks
Your ECs and such are good....but your grades will hurt you (how are you advanced bio course grades?). A 20 is usually the minimum to be accepted. To be blunt...with your stats the best you could probably hope for is MERP, the medical education review program. But...from what I've gathered through perusing the forum, those who do MERP have a great background for 1st term and do well.

Sorry if I cam across as too negative....good luck!

Destiny, Your GPA is ok....but more importantly how is your Premed (science and math) GPA? Were your advance science courses higher grades than your intro science courses? Your MCAT will definitely be a big problem. The best way would be to take it over. If you are lucky, you may be offered MERP. Defnitely consider Ross over St Eu. simply because you have federal loans, all 50 states and more stability.

Score above a 20 and you should be good to go..........for the interview, make sure you know your research like the back of your hand (this will impress your interviewer)

Actually my inreviewer wasn't interested in my research except for the amount of time i had done it. She actually told my friend that don't expect to do much research at Ross (during basic sciences).

Well you should know your research so you don't look bad if asked about it. The last thing you want is to be asked "Tell me about your research" (I got this question) and some people might only remember cleaning cages, test tubes, water bottles etc. It's more of showing you know how to explain yourself well and you don't do things "for show" (also goes for volunteer). I don't think you will do much research on the island however........

He could surely write a thesis on how many shack attacks it takes to kill a med student.

I agree. But no need to know everything in detail. For example, I could talk about all my research projects but i would have a hard time explaining in detail the publication with my name (i wasn't first author), since i was interested in my own projects. On paper those projects don't exist since they aren't published, unfortunately. Thank god i didn't clean dishes or test tubes.
