Hey i interviewed like Sept or Oct of '07 and got the call about 3 weeks later. stuff is still getting underway for the May '08 class so don't be too worried that they haven't called yet.

i think you have a great chance of getting in. I had a very poor mcat score and a 3.7 science gpa, college athlete, strong LOR and volunteer work and lots of clinical experience. when you interview just be honest with them. I am a bad test taker... and i liked to have a social life and take part in a lot of extracurricular activities, therefore my grades suffered.

chances?

So another one of those..
I have ~ 2.8 undergrad gpa and a 2.9 science gpa.
Psychology Major, Minor in Biology.
Graduating May 2008.
International volunteering/observing experience.
2 years work in an Ophthalmologist's office.
Interned as a Youth Development Counselor.
And..I just took my MCATs today for the first time..im guessing i will probably score around 25. Probably gona take it again soon, what should I aim for in order to have a good chance at Ross?

Hi SA210

Well you have a slightly low gpa so i would think a score above a 25 would definitely help you out. If you are trying to get into the sept 08 class you are going to need to retake the MCAT asap and score fairly high bc spots are filling up fast. if you are wanting to start in jan of 09 and you score a 25 with your gpa i think you will be fine. If i were you i would go ahead and apply to ross as your grades and mcat may stand right now. applying early is key. I had a decent undergrad gpa of 3.7 which was a big help and i applied early. my mcat score was horrible (pm me if you would like to know) but i think the fact that i applied a year in advance really helped. I think with all of your volunteer experience and extra curricular activities you should be fine for the january term and if your mcat is high enough you may even make it in time for the september term.

best of luck!

Thanks Russell
Well I wouldnt even mind get MERP'ed for September 2008, since my GPA is low I think I would have to end up going the MERP way. I guess I'm gona apply as soon as I get my MCAT scores (granted they're not horrible), and see. By the way if I do get rejected for Fall, I can just go ahead and reapply for January right?

The way it works at Ross is if you are going to get accepted and there is no room, they wait list you. If there still isn't room, you are automatically accepted in the next semester. SO on the off chance you get rejected, do something to add to your application, either more classes, volunteer work, shadowing...etc. Either way, GOOD LUCK

Applying twice for the same semester?

Alright, two quick questions:
-So can you apply for two semsters at the same time, like Sept '08 and Jan '09? My friend did a paper app and just handwrote in both entering classes (May '08 and Sept '08) and they told him they looked at both but the earlier one first obviously, but I wanted to make sure if any of you have done it
-Also, I'm sending in my complete app for the Jan '09 class next month and THEN taking 4 months to study and take the MCAT for the second time. If I was to get MERP'd (or rejected for some reason) now, would I be able to send in another application for the same Jan '09 semester? Or is there a way to just tell them the major update and just ask them to reevaluate the existing app?
Thanks yall.

lol i m doing the exact same thing. this is what you can do. instead of sending in the apps for Jan 09, send it in for sept 08. Even if u get accepted for Sept 08, you can tell them that you want to start in Jan 09. And if they dont have room for Sept 08, then u would get in for Jan 09 anyways.

but the advantage here is that, if u get MERP'd for sept 08, you have a choice to make. to not take the mcats and do MERP, or do mcats and have them reevaluate your apps. when you are applying, you can indicate that youare planning to take the MCAT again and they might just wait out till you take it.
