MCAT is fine for Ross and your new GPA shows improvement which, again, is a good sign! If you have a good interview, where oyu can explain abotu your first gpa, then i think you have a good shot! Good Luck!

Hi, I'm a 3rd yr undergrad in a B.S/MD program but I don't think I will be for long - my science GPA is too low for my contract (have a 3.0). I don't want to do the fourth year of college because I have to pay for myself and I think I could get into a Caribbean school for Sept. 08 (though I'd like to wait til Jan 09 to make some money until then - unrealistic??), but I would really appreciate it if someone can tell me whether I'm imagining this or not!
106 credit hours (undergrad)
GPA 3.33
MCAT 25P - I'm taking it again in April because the first time I just didn't take it seriously enough (since the B.s/md only requires a 27)
I did all the prereqs plus calc, physiology, genetics, and I'm in micro and biochem now, and met the required humanities things.
I've volunteered in a hospital for 4 years, did a summer of clinical research there, was an active EMT for 2 years, and I have 2 science LOR, with 2 more in the process, 1 humanities LOR and a nice one from the head of the clinical research that I did. Will the fact that I'll just have finished junior year without a B.S. at the time I apply hurt me? My GPA this semester will definitely bring me up - but I don't think enough for the program that I'm in. (also to clarify, this b.s/md thing is 3years undergrad and 4 at med school so I'm at the end of my chances really)
Thanks!

Ross....probably MERP...maybe acceptance if you've got great EC/LOR

SGU...probably not

Your stats are fine for Ross....but here is their info on how many credits you need before you can apply

"Ross University requires at least 90 credits of college work, but strongly recommends that the applicant complete four years in a liberal arts college before entering medical school."

Are you planning to graduate this year....or just apply without having a Bachelor's degree?

I was hoping without the B.S. - I know it's possible to apply down there without one because a friend of mine went to AUA without a B.S. or MCAT - though his GPA was some stellar number that I don't know off hand. I wanted to apply as soon as I hear the final details from my present B.S/MD in June, which I'm not banking on keeping me - though I know that's late for Sept. admission (but I'd even prefer Jan09) - but I think I'll have to call admissions first to see if that's completely ridiculous. Quite frankly I'm sick of college and ready to stop this $42,000/yr tuition, though it seems like I may have to stick it out.
Thank you!

Yeah...it seems like the September class is filling up fast and January is less competitive and it will give you time to wait and hear what your B.S./MD people say. I would chat with someone at Ross at see what their advice is.

I'm sorry to hear you're having financial issues....especially when you're so close to finishing the B.S. part and moving on to the MD. Good luck with whatever decision you make!
