what are my chances?

i know that this is a totally redundant question. it seems that ross is more lenient in either gpa or mcat scores but by how much? i intend on starting in may

cgpa: 3.4
science gpa: 3.7
mcat is on jan 25. practice test scores range from 23 to 26. not exactly where i want them to be. worst case scenario is to retake in april
research experience 1 year
excellent LOR
emt-b course
will start volunteer as an emt

any response or comments please. thanks in advance. also what's the difference in acceptance for those who start in may versus august?

You should be good to go if you get over 20 on the mcat.

GPA: 2.3
BCMP GPA: 3.0 (about - probably closer to 2.9)
Still don't have a bacheolars (but (sort of) working on it) & haven't been @ school for about 2 yrs now

MCAT: 35M (July 2007)

Volunteered: loads
Research experience: 250hrs - no publications

Chances? What schools are my best bet? I'm really not worried about which school will prep me best for USMLE 'cus I can prep myself & be fine. But I am REALLY concerned about licensing issues from clinicals. Will any of the non-big 4s eliminate Texas & California as states where I can get licensed. What are my options?

Chances?
If you can explain to them why you had that 2.3 and if you had a good reason for it they will probably accept you. They might also give you merp to see if you can prove yourself in class.

hey shadowstar. what's up with the discrepancy b/w the gpa and mcat? how is it that someone with a 3.4 gpa and 20 mcat has a better chance than someone with a 2.3 gpa and 35 mcat? does ross care more about gpa than mcat? and how do you know about these stats? thanks.

Ross has said many time they believe that the MCAT's are not as important as the interview and the students GPA. They say this at info sessions, in the interviews, if you call up and ask, etc.

3.4 gpa and 20 mcat are decent stats...a 20 mcat is low for us schools but not that low for caribb schools. These stats show an overall decent student. However, a student with a really low mcat or a really low gpa with the other stat being high, isn't an all around student, and they will notice this. If you have a 4.0 gpa and a 10 mcat...be prepared to explain that 10 mcat. If you had a 1.5 gpa and a 40 mcat...likewise you better be able to explain that 1.5 gpa.

I think you have a pretty good shot. But, wow them in the interview to seal the deal. The worst case scenario is MERP. But, you have great stats and shouldn't have any problems. It'd be nice if you could explain your Orgo II grade, but I still think you're solid.
